PHOTO OF THE DAY - 8/20/2006

PRIEST LAKE PARA-SAILING
This was the initial test flight. Since no one stepped up for the first flight, the chute owner, i.e. ME, ended up as the test pilot.
The launch crew consisted of:
Launch Director and photographer: Amberlyn
Chute holders: Two friendly Spokane police officers that happened upon the scene.
Boat pilot: Jacquie.
Boat Observer: Brandon
The lift-off was picture perfect! Even though the crew was totally untrained, it went like a they'd been doing all their life. The flight proceeded as planned, right up to the point where it was time to turn back to the beach for landing. Unfortunately, especially for the test pilot, the turn was far too short, causing slack in the tow rope and unceremoniously ending the flight. The pilot (ME) quickly learned what the "para" part of para-sailing meant, dropping under the chute and plopping into the lake.
There were no subsequent flights, as no one volunteered again.
It was fun while it lasted.
